Another Big Lots purchase. In short, a kid finds a magic lamp and summons the dumbest genie ever (what is it with genie's being all powerful and yet they're always a. dumb and b. enslaved? Anyone else sense a wee bit of racial malice in this archetype?) The two get into all sorts of shenanigans, namely being chased down by a evil government researcher. I watched this with my girlfriend at the time and she made the brilliant point that everyone and everything in the film had a distinct 60s vibe to them (the clothes, the hair, the cars, tons of Kennedy references) which makes me think the director actually had some sort of secret stylistics going on here. I never bothered to investigate, of course, as that would mean watching this movie again.
